I'm suffocating
Since the pandemic was announced, I have been feeling increasingly restricted. It started with necessary restrictions aimed at protecting us from illness, but then extended to absurd prohibitions, such as the ban on abortions for fetuses with severe abnormalities. When did this happen? When did our government transition so cleverly and seamlessly from minor, harmless restrictions to a serious infringement upon our freedom and dignity?
The artwork "I'm Suffocating" is my diary. It is a record of emotions – what I miss, what angers me, what brings me to despair – but it is also a memory of how it all began. The photographs embedded within the lung model are highly chaotic, yet together they tell the story of the year 2020, written from my perspective.
